World Champion Max Verstappen comfortably led the final practice session ahead of Formula 1’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
Verstappen, who is one of nine drivers currently facing a grid penalty due to component changes, set a time of 1:21.252s as drivers carried out qualifying simulations.
That time left him 0.347s faster than Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc.
Sergio Perez and Carlos Sainz, who also have sizeable grid drops, finished behind their respective team-mates in third and fourth overall.
Alpine’s Fernando Alonso edged McLaren rival Lando Norris to claim fifth place, with both poised to move up the starting grid on Sunday if their practice pace is replicated in qualifying.
George Russell was the fastest Mercedes driver in seventh spot, over a second off the pace, with team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the foot of the top 10.
They were split by AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, who surged up the order with a late lap, and Alpine’s Esteban Ocon.
Williams had a frantic morning following the revelation that Alexander Albon has been ruled out of action after suffering from appendicitis.
The squad has drafted in Mercedes reserve Nyck de Vries, who participated in practice for Aston Martin on Friday, to replace Albon for the remainder of the weekend.
It marks a debut for De Vries, who won the 2019 Formula 2 title, and last year’s Formula E championship.
De Vries survived an early excursion through the gravel at Lesmo to finish 13th, within a tenth of team-mate Nicholas Latifi.
Mick Schumacher endured another troubled session after being able to take to the circuit with just 10 minutes remaining owing to a clutch problem.
He completed only a handful of laps en route to 19th overall, in front only of Lance Stroll, as Aston Martin’s struggles continued, with Sebastian Vettel its lead driver in a lowly 17th.
Qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix is scheduled for 16:00 local time.
