Haas has confirmed that both Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher will run the heavily updated VF-22 at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix.
Haas has opted to bring only one substantial update package this season, compared to the approach taken by many rivals, and introduced its revised VF-22 in Hungary.
The production situation meant only Magnussen, who was the driver in front in the championship, ran the updated car in Hungary.
Schumacher will now join his team-mate in using the upgraded package from this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
“We could see that the on-car numbers were corelating to the wind tunnel numbers, which is always a good sign, and now we have to get the best out of it in lap time,” said Haas boss Guenther Steiner.
“Before the shutdown, the team looked at the data closely and will do more now they’re back from the break but at the moment it looks good and hopefully we can better our lap time.”
Haas enters the second part of the season in seventh place in the Constructors’ standings, on 34 points.
“Hopefully we can keep this position in the championship, that’s battle number one,” said Steiner.
“Battle number two is trying to get to sixth, but let’s see. We will always do our best and try to improve or at least not fall back.”
