Lewis Hamilton has distanced himself from suggestions that he could be a doubt for this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix following back pain he suffered in Azerbaijan.
Hamilton complained of back pain throughout the weekend in Azerbaijan owing to the extreme bouncing that he was encountering in his Mercedes W13.
Hamilton went on to finish fourth in Azerbaijan and was slow to extricate himself from the car in the aftermath of the race.
It prompted Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff to suggest that Hamilton could be a doubt for the upcoming round in Montreal.
Posting on his personal Instagram account on Monday morning Hamilton wrote: “Yesterday was tough and had some trouble sleeping but have woken up feeling positive today.
“Back is a little sore and bruised but nothing serious thankfully. I have had acupuncture and physio with Ang [trainer, Angela Cullen] and am on the way to my team to work with them on improving.
“We have to keep fighting. No time like the present to pull together and we will. I’ll be there this weekend, wouldn’t miss it for the world. Wishing everybody an amazing day and week.”
Hamilton has claimed victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, including at its most recent event in 2019, having taken the first of his 103 wins at the race in his rookie 2007 campaign.
