Juan Pablo Montoya leads Petit Le Mans with four hours to go, in the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05 DPi. #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR’s Felipe Nasr is just a second back, with Earl Bamber in the #5 Chip Ganassi Cadillac DPi-VR a further nine seconds adrift.
The race is under caution for an incident in the esses between at least two cars, both of which have stopped on track with no lights in full darkness.
Bamber, however, is on a charge, overtaking Loic Duval in fourth and pulling out multiple seconds in just a single lap before the caution.
Bamber and Duval previously came together as Bamber exited the pits, with Duval misjudging the distance needed to overtake the Kiwi, tagging him and requiring a rear deck change to the Chip Ganassi.
Thomas Merrill leads LMP2 in the #11 WIN Autosport ORECA 07-Gibson, but second and third in class are chasing him down. Scott Huffaker, at the wheel of #52 PR1 Mathiasen ORECA 07-Gibson sits a second off Merill, with Gabriel Aubry, in the Tower Motorsport ORECA 07-Gibson in third, three seconds off Huffaker.
In GTLM, Alexander Sims leads for #4 Corvette C8.R, with Matt Campbell in the #79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 RSR second. John Edwards rounds out the top three in the #24 BMW Team RLL M8 GTE, about five seconds off Campbell, but only seven off the class lead.
In LMP3, Scott Andrews leads in the ever-present #74 Riley Motorsports Ligier JS P320. Spencer Pigot is second in class in the #30 Jr III Ligier JS P320. Third on the road is Tom Gamble in the #2 United Autosports Ligier JS P320, but this car has just stopped on track after leading the class, so likely won’t retain the position.
Finally, in GTD, Laurens Vanthoor leads in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3R, with Daniel Morad second in the #28 Alegra Mercedes-AMG GT3. Third is the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3, with Ross Gunn at the wheel.
