Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has been cleared to leave the hospital following his high-speed crash during the British Grand Prix.
The world championship leader sustained a 51G impact with the barrier at Copse corner following contact with title rival Lewis Hamilton.
Verstappen was assessed by medical staff at the track, before he was brought to a local facility for further tests.
“Cleared from the hospital after all the checks were ok,” Verstappen wrote on social media. “Thank you to everyone for all the nice messages and best wishes.”
Hamilton would go on to win the race despite receiving a ten-second time penalty for the incident.
Verstappen labelled Hamilton’s post-race celebrations “disrespectful and unsportsmanlike”, as he did so while Verstappen was in the hospital.
Hamilton asserted post-race that he wasn’t aware that Verstappen had been brought to the hospital for precautionary checks until after he had celebrated his win.
Hamilton also was issued two penalty points on his super licence, taking his total up to four in the last 12 months.
Any driver that collects 12 points across a 12 month period is automatically handed a race ban.
The gap between the two at the head of the standings now reads just eighth points ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix in two weeks, the final race before the summer break.
