Lopez blitzes second practice at Monza

Jose Maria Lopez has continued to set the pace in practice for the Six Hours of Monza, topping the timesheets for the second session in a row.

The Argentinean posted an early flyer of 01:36:984 in the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid to top the session, which would not be touched by the rest of the field.

Lopez was over seven-tenths clear of second-placed Nicolas Lapierre in the #36 Alpine A480-Gibson, as the Frenchman posted a 01:37:591.

Lapierre, in turn, was just 0.010s faster than compatriot Olivier Pla aboard the #708 Glickenhaus 007 LMH, which made its way into the top three for the first time.

The session was marked by a significant incident after the chequered flag, which involved the Alpine. The ORECA-built LMP1 was reportedly hit from behind by the #60 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo and hit the barriers. The incident als reportedly involved the #21 DragonSpeed ORECA 07-Gibson.

The #8 Toyota was fourth, with the second Glickenhaus rounding out the top class.

All Hypercar runners cleared the LMP2 pack, which was led by the #29 Racing Team Nederland ORECA 07-Gibson. Nyck de Vries set the quickest time aboard the bright yellow prototype, posting a 01:38:545.

De Vries outpaced the #22 United Autosports ORECA 07-Gibson of Filipe Albuquerque, with Anthony Davidson completing the top three in the #38 JOTA ORECA 07-Gibson ahead of DragonSpeed and Team WRT.

Porsche fired back at Ferrari after the Italian manufacturer topped the opening session, outpacing them in the second session.

Kevin Estre set the GTE Pro pace in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19, posting a 01:45:590 to top the session. The Frenchman’s time was over half a second clear of the #52 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo with the #51 sister car close behind in third place.

The #91 Porsche, driven by [], completed the class

AF Corse, meanwhile, locked out the top two spots in GTE Am. Giancarlo Fisichella went quickest in the #54 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo with a 01:46:737, a tenth clear of the #83 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo while the #85 Iron Lynx Ferrari made it an all-Italian top three.
