Esteban Ocon has suggested changing “as much as possible” on his Alpine A521 after his recent downturn in performance.
Ocon headed the returning Fernando Alonso early in the season and claimed points in four of the opening five grands prix.
But while Alonso has strung together four straight points finishes Ocon has not breached the top 10 in race trim since Monaco.
Ocon was eliminated in Q1 in both Austria events and was the sole retirement in the race after tagging Antonio Giovinazzi on the opening lap.
“We see a few things, and we are seeing some deficit, but it is hard to place the finger on exactly what it is,” he said.
“We will start from fresh at Silverstone, change as many parts as we can on the car, and hopefully come back much stronger.
“But for sure to be one second slower on the first run [in Q1] compared to Fernando, it is too big, the difference, so there is definitely something that was not working right and that we need to understand.”
Ocon emphasised that “the more things we can change the better it would be, as it is one doubt less”, having added the “maximum possible” would be “very welcome.”
“I see we are discussing about changing some parts already, to just restart fresh, so we’ll see exactly what is the plan, that’s going to be defined this week,” he said.
“Obviously the deficit and the performance we had was not good enough this weekend and last weekend.”
