Jamie Chadwick returned to form by qualifying on pole position for the second race of the W Series campaign at the Red Bull Ring.

The reigning-champion was fastest throughout the majority of the session despite other drivers having brief moments at the top of the timing pages, the Brit was able to put together a lap time that was over a tenth quicker than second place Beitske Visser.

The red flags brought the session to an early halt in the first couple of minutes due to Sabre Cook spinning into the gravel trap at Turn 7, where she was unable to recover out of.

The top ten after the first ten minutes of the session saw Chadwick quickest by nearly four tenths ahead of Abbie and Visser.

The Williams F1 Development Driver was able to retain her place at the top with five minutes to go with a better than before with Visser up to second and 0.118 seconds off the pace, and Emma Kimilainen elevating herself up to third.

When the chequered flag fell, no one was able to displace Chadwick. She took her fourth career pole in the series ahead of rival Visser.

Kimilainen was third but a three-place grid drop for a collision with Visser in the last race means she will line up sixth, promoting Bruna Tomaselli, Nerea Marti and Irina Sidorkova up a position each.

Rounding out the top ten were Marta and Belen Garcia, Sarah Moore and Ayla Agren.

Race winner and pole sitter from last weekend Alice Powell was a disappointing 13th after a lap time she set earlier in the session was deleted for track limits.

The second race of this season’s W Series begins on Saturday afternoon at 16:30 track time following Formula 1 qualifying.
