United Autosports has set the fastest time in second practice for the Eight Hours of Portimao, in a session that saw LMP2 cars outpace their Hypercar counterparts and where Glickenhaus suffered mechanical woes.

Paul di Resta went quickest in the #22 ORECA 7-Gibson, posting a 01:31:984 to outpace the #31 Team WRT ORECA 07-Gibson of Robin Frijns by just 0.020s. Another handful of hundreths further back was the #34 Inter Europol Competition ORECA of Alex Brundle, completing the top three in class.

In contrast, the Hypercar runners appeared to have a more difficult time on Saturday morning. The #36 Alpine A480-Gibson was the quickest car in class with a 01:32:074, but Nicolas Lapierre could only log the fourth-fastest time overall.

The #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid of Sebastien Buemi, the quickest of the two Japanese cars, found itself some seven-tenths off the top time and behind the five fastest LMP2 cars. The #7 car, meanwhile, was ninth overall in the hands of Mike Conway.

Glickenhaus had a tough session at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. The #709 007 LMH driven by Romain Dumas posted a quickest time of 01:33:875, just over a second off the slowest Toyota.

It also suffered a mechanical issue in the closing minutes if the session, coming to a halt on the exit of the turn five hairpin.

Ferrari, meanwhile, struck back at Porsche after the German manufacturer topped the opening free practice session on Friday.

It was Daniel Serra, leading the way in the #52 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo by posting a 01:38:901 to outpace the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Kevin Estre by 0.129s.

Richard Lietz was third in the #91 Porsche 911 RSR-19, with the quickest of the GTE Am runners ahead of him. The #51 Ferrari completed the class, its quickest lap set by James Calado.

Matteo Cairoli paced GTE Am in the #56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR-19, outpacing the slower cars in GTE Pro by posting a 01:39:266.

His effort put him 0.153s clear of Antonio Fuoco’s #47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in second place, while Ben Barker completed the top three in the #86 GR Racing Porsche 911 RSR-19.
