FP3: Alonso tops a mostly dry final practice

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso topped the final practice session for the German Grand Prix with the quickest lap we’ve seen this weekend so far.

The session was mostly dry until the final few minutes when the rain clouds came into play, hampering some runs, particularly Jenson Button’s low-fuel runs with the McLaren driver finishing slowest.

Team-mate Lewis Hamilton had a more successful morning with the second quickest lap, set on the medium compound rather than the soft tyre used by Alonso.

Sergio Perez impressed in the wetter conditions to post a late lap to go third fastest ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

Several drivers continued to run wide at turn 12 as they explored the circuits limits, whilst Romain Grosjean was warned about continually running wide at turn one.
