Schumacher ruled out of Monaco qualifying after FP3 crash

Haas’ Mick Schumacher will not take part in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix following his late-session crash during FP3 on Saturday.

The German suffered major damage to his VF-21 car after hitting the barrier at the exit of Turn 4 with minutes remaining in the practice session.

Due to the short time period between the end of FP3 and the start of qualifying, Haas has confirmed that his car will not be repaired in time for the all-important session to set the starting grid for Sunday’s grand prix.

He has also taken on a fresh gearbox, which is a five-place grid penalty – however he is set to take the start of the race from the back of the field regardless.

Prior to the crash, Schumacher held the 14th fastest time of the session, with team-mate Nikita Mazepin 16th on the road at the end of FP3.

Schumacher was one of two drivers to hit the wall during the finalpractice outing, as Williams’ Nicholas Latifi also damaged his car at Turn 16.
