Formula 1 has revealed its track schedule for the British Grand Prix weekend, the first event at which Sprint Qualifying will appear.

Sprint Qualifying will take place at three grand prix this year in order for Formula 1 to assess potential format changes for the coming year.

A race of 100km distance will take place instead of qualifying, which will be shifted to Friday, and the outcome will determine the grid for Sunday’s grand prix.

On Friday Formula 1 revealed the revised schedule for the British Grand Prix, which takes place at Silverstone across July 16 to 18.

Qualifying will take place at 18:00 local time (GMT +1) on Friday, with the opening practice session at 14:30, while Saturday’s second practice is scheduled for 12:00.

Lights out for Sprint Qualifying, which is expected to last around 30 minutes, will be at 16:30 local time.

Sunday’s grand prix will begin at 15:00 local time.

Sprint Qualifying is also due to take place at Monza and Interlagos – if Formula 1’s Brazilian Grand Prix goes ahead due to the ongoing pandemic.
