Formula E have announced an update to their 2020/21 calendar, with both the Rome and Valencia E-Prix rounds becoming double headers next month.

Round 3 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is scheduled to take place on April 10 in Rome and will now be joined by Round 4 on the Sunday, April 11. The Italian capital city returns to the calendar after a year-long absence due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Valencia E-Prix also becomes a double-header, hosting Rounds 5 and 6 on April 24 and 25. This will be the Circuit Ricardo Tommo’s debut in the Formula E Championship, having previously been used for pre-season testing.

As a result, Monaco which was scheduled to host Round 5 on May 8 and Morocco, which was due to hold the Marrakesh E-Prix on May 2, become Rounds 7 and 8 instead. At this moment, both are still scheduled to take place on their original dates.

The remainder of the Season 7 calendar will be confirmed shortly and is subject to monitoring of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Mercedes EQ’s Nyck de Vries currently leads the Drivers’ Championship after the first two rounds, with Jaguar’s Sam Bird in second. Jaguar Racing lead the teams’ standings following Bird’s victory in Round 2 and Mitch Evans’ third place finish in the opening round.
