Alfa Romeo team boss Frederic Vasseur believes Ferrari will recover a “large part” of the power deficit that it encountered during the 2020 season.
Ferrari suffered in the power stakes in 2020, following a private settlement with the FIA, and was heavily compromised throughout the season.
Ferrari finished only sixth in the standings while customers Alfa Romeo and Haas amassed a mere 11 points between them, classifying eighth and ninth respectively.
Ferrari has undertaken development work on its power unit through the winter and has targeted a step forward, having been encouraged by initial feedback from dyno testing.
Alfa Romeo unveiled its C41 on Monday and Vasseur is hopeful that Ferrari’s work through the winter will boost the team’s fortunes.
“The collaboration with Ferrari is I think going very well,” said Vasseur.
“We had a strong meeting, a long meeting during the winter, to cover the points of last year when we probably didn’t do the perfect job.
“We are on a good path. I think that on their side they will recover probably a large part of the issue they had last year, the collaboration is getting better and better.
“The key point of the collaboration is to be convinced we can learn from each other in the scope of the regulations and we have to play with this, and to do the best job that we can do.”
Vasseur has also backed Alfa Romeo to recover the downforce that has been lost through tweaked technical regulations for 2021.
“The main topic will be the aero, even if we have some restrictions, we have still some freedom to recover the aero and we did it,” he said.
“I think we came back [from the FIA restrictions] at a decent level.”
