New NASCAR Cup Series team Live Fast Motorsports has named Frank Kerr the crew chief for its #78 Ford. The car will be driven by co-owner B.J. McLeod. The team also is co-owned by former driver Matt Tifft.
Kerr has been a NASCAR national-level crew chief since 2005 and has experience in all three national series. He’s a two-time race winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, winning consecutive races at Watkins Glen International in 2009 and 2010 with Marcos Ambrose as driver.
“It means so much to have Frank join the team and crew chief,” McLeod said. “He’s the backbone for this new driver/crew chief combination, and it’s meant so much as we get our program started to have Frank here.”
Kerr has 284 starts as a Cup Series crew chief, most recently working with drivers Corey LaJoie and Cole Whitt on the now-defunct TriStar Motorsports team in 2018. His eight top-fives and 17 top-10 finishes in NASCAR’s top series include career-best runner-up finishes at The Glen with Ambrose in 2009 and at Talladega Superspeedway with David Gilliland as driver in 2013.
