Trio of DRS zones available for Bahrain GP

Valtteri Bottas (FIN) Mercedes AMG F1 W10. Bahrain Grand Prix, Friday 29th March 2019. Sakhir, Bahrain.

Formula 1 drivers will have use of DRS in three zones at the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix.

The postponed Bahrain round has been rearranged for this weekend while the championship will then stay on for a second event, with the Outer Layout to be used for the first time.

For the first round, to be held on the usual grand prix layout, there will be three DRS zones, as there were at Bahrain’s most recent Formula 1 event in March 2019.

The first zone will be 23 metres after Turn 3, the second 50 metres after Turn 10 and the third 170 metres after Turn 15 – leading drivers onto the pit straight.

Each zone will have its own detection point.

The first detection point will be 50 metres before Turn 1, the second 10 metres before Turn 9 and the third 110 metres before Turn 14.

The only change since 2019 has been a minor tweak in the detection point for the third DRS zone, which has been moved back by just two metres.
