Formula 1 has revealed its latest Covid-19 figures, with 10 ancillary personnel testing positive, across the most recent seven-day period.

Formula 1 carried out 44,000 tests across the opening nine events, recording just nine cases, but this increased in the build-up to the Russian Grand Prix, with seven people testing positive.

On Friday it revealed its weekly data and announced that 10 people, all classified as ancillary personnel, returned a positive result out of the 1,822 tests carried out across the previous seven days.

Formula 1 and the FIA stressed that “those cases and have been managed quickly and effectively without impacting the event.

“The presence of fans has not affected that situation as the public was not allowed to enter the F1 bubble as per our protocol in force.”

Approximately 30,000 spectators were present at Sochi, the largest number so far in 2020, with fans set to be in attendance at upcoming events in Germany, Portugal, Italy and Turkey.

Formula 1 has implemented strict protocols at grands prix this year in order to prevent the risk of personnel picking up or spreading Covid-19.

All personnel must undertake a Covid-19 test every five days, wear masks when not at their work stations, and undergo temperature checks daily upon entry to the venue.

Anyone who returns a positive or inconclusive test is swiftly isolated while those within the same bubble, or sub-bubble, are also quarantined until they return a subsequent negative test in order to ensure the safe running of the event.
