Perez holds clear the air talks after swipe at team

Sergio Perez says the air has been “totally cleared” between himself and Racing Point after he criticised some factions within the squad on Thursday.

Perez has been with Racing Point since its Force India guise in 2014 but it was confirmed earlier this month that he will leave after the 2020 campaign.

Racing Point is chasing McLaren for third place in the Constructors’ Championship and Perez has urged everyone within the team to be unified.

He suggested that “some people inside the team tend to hide things, which I don’t think is great” and that “at the moment I think we need to be as transparent as possible.”

But prior to Friday’s practice sessions for the Russian Grand Prix Perez moved to stress that he and Racing Point have discussed the matter and consider it resolved.

“I have known this team for seven years and they are like a family,” Perez wrote on his social media pages.

“I have spoken to the team and they accept my explanation.

“There’s no way that after seven years we can finish in bad terms, the air is totally cleared.

“We all move forward now, we all want the same thing: to score as many points and be successful in our remaining races together.

“We will push and go for more podiums in these final eight races together.”
