Team Penske driver Brad Keselowski hit a NASCAR Cup Series milestone Sunday in the GoBowling.com 235 at the Daytona International Speedway road course. The race, in which he started 17th and finish 13th, was his 400th-career race in the series.
Keselowski has been a full-time driver with Team Penske since 2010, first as driver of the #12 and, then, the #2, beginning in 2011. The move to Penske came after a stint as NASCAR Xfinity Series driver for JR Motorsports and two part-time seasons in the Cup Series with Hendrick Motorsports and Phoenix Racing.
Keselowski has notched firsts for car owner Roger Penske. In his first your with the Penske organization, Keselowski won Penske his first NASCAR national-level championship in the Xfinity Series. Two years later, he notched Penske his first Cup Series title in 2012.
“I have been racing for Team Penske for the vast majority of my NASCAR career and to continue to represent Roger Penske, our partners and his organization is exactly where I want to be,” Keselowski said upon a recent announcement of a contract extension. “We’ve accomplished a lot of things together over the years, including winning both the Cup and Xfinity championships, the Brickyard 400, the Southern 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Now, my goal is to win the Daytona 500, another championship and continue to build Team Penske into the best NASCAR team in the garage area.”
Keselowski scored his first Cup Series win with Phoenix Racing at Talladega Superspeedway in 2009. Since moving to Penske, he’s won 32 more Cup Series races. Those wins, along with 33 Xfinity Series wins, have given Keselowski a Team Penske wins total that makes him the organization’s all-time winningest driver.
In all, Keselowski has 39-career wins in the Xfinity Series, the other six coming with JRM.
“Brad not only demonstrates talent and skill on the track, but his leadership away from it and his dedication to our partners have had a huge impact in making our organization one of the best in NASCAR,” Penske said upon the announcement of Keselowski’s contract extension.
Keselowski has won three races of the first 23 in 2020, cementing a position in the playoffs, set to get underway after three more regular-season races. Also with nine top-fives and 16 top-10 finishes, so far, this season, he sits third in the driver points standings, heading into Saturday and Sunday’s doubleheader at Dover International Speedway.
