Reigning World Champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed the revised helmet scheme that he will run in the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton had unveiled a modified design at the start of the year but has now made a further revision in the wake of recent diversity pushes.
Mercedes has also modified the livery of its W11, and race suits, in alignment with the anti-racism message.
“For a long time we’ve been planning the livery change, the suit change, and I designed my helmet to be black and purple this year,” said Hamilton while unveiling the design.
“I’ve only just seen this for the first time. Normally my helmet is white, suit is white and car is silver.
“On the top here [the Black Lives Matter logo] this is the whole reason my helmet, suit and car have changed colour.
“It is supporting equality above all, and just really continuing to solidify that important message as people are starting to listen.
“It is an opportunity to continue to push that message and really hold people accountable, brands and the teams in Formula 1, and be open to educating themselves and being open to understand why the Black Lives movement is happening and why around the world we need to be pushing for equality.
“I kept the purple from what I planned to start the season, it’s my favourite colour, and I hope you get to see it when I’m in the car.”
