Renault returned to Formula 1 action at the Red Bull Ring on Tuesday, with Daniel Ricciardo getting behind the wheel of its 2018 car.
Formula 1 has been on hiatus since the end of February due to the coronavirus pandemic, with a shortened season set to get underway in Austria next month.
Renault has arranged a two-day test at the Red Bull Ring for Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon, and the seven-time race winner completed 115 laps in the R.S.18 on Tuesday.
It was Ricciardo’s first outing for the manufacturer since confirming he will leave the team for McLaren at the end of the year.
Ocon is due to drive the R.S.18 on Wednesday at the venue which will host the opening two races next month.
The car ran in Renault’s interim black livery, as used during pre-season testing, rather than the full 2020 race scheme, which was unveiled in Melbourne in March.
Renault’s demonstration team, rather than its usual race crew, operated the test.
As per regulations Formula 1 teams are permitted to carry out testing in two-year-old cars.
They are also allowed to undertake two filming days per season in current machinery, though running is limited to 100km on Pirelli’s promotional tyres.
Mercedes ended Formula 1’s on-track silence last week when it carried out a two-day test at Silverstone last week.
Racing Point and AlphaTauri are due to run their 2020-spec cars this month.
