Pascal Wehrlein confirmed on Monday that he and Mahindra Racing have parted ways with immediate effect.

The former Formula 1 driver, who sits 14th in the Formula E points standings, joined Mahindra in 2018 after switching to the all-electric series after leaving Sauber the year before.

The current Formula E season has not yet concluded, but there are plans to host a number of races at Berlin’s Tempelhof airfield in August to see the season out.

Wehrlein confirmed he won’t be competing in those races with Mahindra.

“Hi everyone, from today onwards I will no longer be part of Mahindra Racing,” the German racer wrote on social media.

“My interest was to finish the season but the current situation didn’t allow so.

“I can’t say much about my future but will keep you informed. Thank you all for your support and see you soon on track again.”

It’s rumoured Wehrlein has agreed a deal to join the Tag Heuer Porsche team for the 2020/21 season, likely to replace Neel Jani.

The deal would also allow Wehrlein to compete in some endurance events, which is something the 25-year-old has previously expressed an interest in.
