Signatech is looking into a possible LMDh program with Alpine, according to team principal Philippe Sinault.

Sinault appeared on a tv broadcast of the French station ViàLMtv Sarthe, which is based in Le Mans. The broadcast, hosted by Le Mans announcer Bruno Vandestick, saw Sinault, alongside other guests including ACO President Pierre Fillon interviewed on a variety of topics.

During the interview, Sinault was asked about a story published in the March 9 edition of French car magazine Auto Hebdo about the possibility of an Alpine LMDh programme. Sinault subsequently indicated that the team is looking at taking Alpine to the top level of international prototype racing.

“We can aspire to it given our results with Alpine. We are still looking into that option,” Sinault told the French station. “Related discussions are ongoing. We can aspire to it given our prior LMP2 results.”

Since their partnership, which began in 2013, Signatech Alpine has become one of the most successful LMP2 squad to date. It took back-to-back European Le Mans Series titles in 2013 and 2014 before stepping up to the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2015.

In the WEC, it added to its trophy cabinets with LMP2 titles in 2016 and 2018/19, as well as three class wins at Le Mans in 2016, 2018 and 2019.

In the current WEC campaign, the team sits fifth in the standings with Andre Negrao, Pierre Thiriet and Pierre Ragues, thirty points behind LMP2 leaders United Autosports.
