Ferrari and clients raise €1m in coronavirus fight

Ferrari, along with its clients, have raised €1m in support of the fight against the current coronavirus pandemic.

Ferrari has launched a fundraising effort to support the healthcare system of the Modena province, in which the company is based, and will match donations made by its clients.

Modena’s Azienda Unita Sanitaria Locale (AUSL) will be the primary beneficiary of the fundraising efforts, facilitating the healthcare unit in purchasing medical devices and equipment needed to fight the virus.

The fundraising efforts will also benefit the Telemedicine service, which allows for remote monitoring of citizens with potential symptoms through devices connected to smartphones or tables.

ASUL Modena is already utilising this technology with patients who are in the province’s nursing homes, who are already suffering from neurological disorders, and who have already tested positive for the virus.

Ferrari has also donated an ambulance to ASUL Modena that is in constant use by the emergency department.

Ferrari’s Maranello and Modena offices are due to re-open next Tuesday (April 14) in line with advice from Italy’s government.

The company will offer voluntary blood tests to employees, and their families, in order to undertake screening for the virus.

As part of its scheme any employee that tests positive for COVID-19 will receive free insurance cover, have their accommodation covered, and receive the necessary medical and nursing support, along with medical equipment.

Ferrari’s Formula 1 operations will remain suspended in line with the FIA’s five-week factory shutdown.
