Reigning World Champions Mercedes has taken the wraps off the tweaked livery that will adorn its Formula 1 car this season, having formed a new five-year partnership with INEOS.

Mercedes won 15 of the 21 grands prix last year as it swept to a sixth straight Constructors’ title, with Lewis Hamilton becoming a six-time World Champion.

It was announced last December that Mercedes had formed a performance partnership with INEOS and on Monday the company was announced as a Principal Partner.

The 2020 livery event was held at the Royal Automobile Club in London, and attended by Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and INEOS Chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Chemicals company INEOS has expanded into sporting ventures in recent years, most prominently taking over ownership of dominant cycling outfit Team Sky.

It also owns Ligue 1 team OGC Nice, is funding Britain’s Americas Cup operation, and recently backed Eliud Kipchoge’s successful attempt to run a sub two-hour marathon.

Mercedes’ 2020 car, the W11, will be presented at Silverstone on Friday.

Ferrari will present its 2020 challenger in Italy on Tuesday, while Red Bull and Renault will launch their respective seasons on Wednesday.

McLaren’s MCL35 will be unveiled at its Technology Centre on Thursday, with the rebranded Alpha Tauri launching its new identity in Salzburg on Friday.

Williams and Racing Point will present their 2020 cars next Monday, with Alfa Romeo and Haas – which has already revealed a render of its VF-20 – conducting a physical launch on Wednesday 19.
