David Ragan announced via Twitter that he’ll drive the #36 Ford For Rick Ware Racing in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 on Feb. 16.

“Really excited for the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the No. 36 @Select_Blinds Ford Mustang for @RickWareRacing at @DISupdates,” Ragan [@DavidRagan] tweeted. “Thank you to both @Select_Blinds and @speedycash for coming on board for the 62nd running of the Great American Race.”

RWR will field the #36 through a partnership with Front Row Motorsports.  The #36 was part of a three-car lineup at Front Row Motorsports that included Ragan as driver of the #38 in 2019. FRM, though, is scaling back to two full-time entries for the 2020 Cup Series season, fielding a #38 for John Hunter Nemechek and #34 for Michael McDowell.

Ragan drove for Front Row two times throughout his Cup Series career, from 2012 through 2014 and, again, between 2017 and 2019. He won one race with FRM at Talladega Superspeedway in 2013. His two-career Cup Series wins also includes a victory at Daytona International Speedway while with Roush Fenway Racing in July 2011.

Ragan retired from full-time Cup Series competition at the end of the 2019 season. In addition to driving for Front Row Motorsports, Ragan also drove for Roush Fenway Racing and BK Racing and was a substitute for the injured Kyle Busch at Joe Gibbs Racing early in 2015. He has 470-career Cup Series starts, dating back to 2006.
