Dan Ticktum will join Fortescue Zero for the 2026/27 Formula E season, partnering Taylor Barnard in one of the biggest moves of the driver market.
Ticktum sought a new drive after his relationship with former squad CUPRA Kiro ended.
Since then, the Briton tested for Lola and held discussions with both Fortescue Zero and the prospective new Porsche customer team.
Although Lola ruled him out early after an August test, Ticktum has now agreed to terms with Fortescue Zero.
The move creates an all-British lineup for the newly formed entity. Both drivers bring proven raw pace, sharing three E-Prix victories between them.
Fortescue Zero entered Formula E after acquiring the license and assets of the former DS Penske operation.
Green technology and industrial giant Fortescue owns the team. The company previously acquired Williams Advanced Engineering before rebranding the division as Fortescue Zero.
Operating out of Kidlington, UK, under Team Principal Jim Wright, the squad already serves as Formula E’s official Pit Boost technology provider and will run Jaguar powertrains for the GEN4 era.
Despite testing setbacks with the new Jaguar GEN4 package, Fortescue Zero has secured one of the fastest driver pairings on the grid.
If the team resolves its early reliability issues, Ticktum and Barnard give the new entrant genuine race-winning potential.
Ticktum continues Formula E stint
Reflecting on the announcement, Ticktum explained that the team’s “different” approach drew him in. He also emphasised the honour of driving for the newly added FE team.
“What I love about Fortescue Zero Racing is that they want to do things differently,” Ticktum said.
“To get to race and represent Fortescue Zero Racing in its first season is a huge honour. Getting to be part of building a team from scratch is exciting, especially one that’s got a long history of competing and winning.”
“It’s not lost on me the support I’ve received to get here and the faith that has been put in me. I am extremely grateful and cannot wait to repay that belief by working with Jim Wright and the whole team to make the 2026/27 season a huge success.”
Meanwhile, Ticktum’s new Team Principal Jim Wright had nothing but praise for the Briton as preparations begin for an enthralling new GEN4 Era.
“Dan is a fierce competitor,” Wright explained
“He’s fast, fearless, a proven race winner in Formula E and not afraid to push boundaries. At Fortescue, challenging the way things have always been done is part of our DNA.”
“We want that hunger in our garage, matched with the discipline and teamwork needed to deliver results. Dan brings experience, strength and a winning personality to the team.”
“Dan has a reputation for being incredibly quick and racing hard. As a new team we have a lot to prove and together we can all show what Fortescue Zero Racing can do.”
