Audi has announced plans to build a brand-new campus at its Swiss base of Hinwil, marking a statement of intent for its new journey in Formula 1.
The German marque officially entered F1 this season, taking over the entry of the longstanding Sauber squad, with transition beginning last year.
Despite losing Team Principal Jonathan Wheatley after just two Grands Prix, the team has impressed in his debut campaign, competing in, or on the fringes of, the F1 midfield.
With Audi retaining a hub in Neuberg, Germany, as well as a new campus in Bicester Motion in England, it has begun its F1 journey in Sauber’s HQ in Hinwil, where it was based for the entirety of its 32-year period in the sport.
And the ‘Four Rings’ are intent on remaining there, but adding big ambition with a new facility in the area, parts of which have already become operational.
Completion of the new facility is projected for a 2030 completion, just in time to focus on the sport’s then-impending new regulations cycle.
“The Campus will play an important role in helping us attract and retain world-class talent while providing the foundations required to achieve our long-term ambitions,” said Audi’s F1 project chief, Mattia Binotto.
“Building a successful Formula 1 team is ultimately about people. The best engineers, designers, mechanics and specialists want to work in an environment that allows them to collaborate, innovate and perform at their highest level. The Campus will help us create exactly that environment.

“What makes this project particularly special is that it allows us to shape the future of Audi Revolut F1 Team from the ground up. Opportunities like this are rare in modern Formula 1. We are not simply moving into an existing facility; we are creating a home designed around our people, our culture and our ambitions. This Campus is an important part of that journey.
“We are proud that the next chapter of Audi Revolut F1 Team will be written in Hinwil and I would like place on record my thanks to the Municipality of Hinwil itself.”
