Renault Formula 1 junior Caio Collet will continue to compete in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2020 with R-ace GP, along with a campaign in the Toyota Racing Series.

Brazilian youngster Collet, 17, joined Renault’s Formula 1 programme for 2019 off the back of a title-winning campaign in French Formula 4.

He is part of the All Road Management scheme, run by Nicholas Todt, that counts Ferrari F1 front-runner Charles Leclerc and Alpha Tauri racer Daniil Kvyat among its clients.

Collet also had a private outing in Renault’s 2012-spec Formula 1 car and carried out a demonstration run in his native Brazil in November.

Collet, fifth in last year’s Formula Renault Eurocup, will tackle the New Zealand-based TRS over the winter, with the series utilising the same chassis and tyres as Eurocup.

“Winter tests in Europe have been good and I cannot wait to work,” said Collet.

“The 2020 TRS grid looks really strong and I’m ready for the challenge, which will be strong preparation for me for my campaign in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2020.

“I would like to thank the Renault Sport Academy for their blessing to race in this series and All Road Management and my sponsors for their continuous support.

“I will give my best on track to get strong results and fight for the title.”

Renault has previously outlined its desire to have one of the drivers from its Academy, which was re-launched in 2016, in a Formula 1 race seat in 2021.

Formula 3 regulars Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda and Lirim Zendeli are among the drivers to have signed up to the 2020 TRS, which will begin mid-January.
