Red Bull has confirmed that Liam Lawson will once again deputise for the injured Isack Hadjar for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.
The Kiwi was initially deployed into the Milton Keynes-based squad‘s line-up at Zandvoort after the Frenchman fractured his wrist during training in preparation for the race.
A seventh-place finish was an impressive showing from Lawson, who had originally been dropped by the team after two races last season, and spent the remainder of 2026 with Hadjar at Racing Bulls.
He continued to drive in Hadjar’s place at Monza, with Yuki Tsunoda – Red Bull’s reserve driver – taking his place at Racing Bulls alongside Arvid Lindblad.
And with the new Madring an unknown quantity for drivers, the decision has been taken for the status quo to remain.
“After racing for the team in Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will continue to drive alongside Max at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid,” Red Bull said.
“The decision has been taken as Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively.
“While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team.
“Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing looks forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.”
Red Bull will be keen to build on some momentum gained at Monza, where Max Verstappen banished the memory of his Zandvoort shunt with third place.
