The Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix has been red flagged after Charles Leclerc suffered a huge crash on the second lap of the race.
During a battle with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri for fourth place, the Ferrari driver lost control of his car at the final corner. As he tried to correct the car, he then swung in the other direction and skated through the gravel trap before colliding heavily with the barrier.
Leclerc was able to climb out of his car unassisted as race control decided to deploy a red flag in order to repair the barrier and remove the Ferrari.
The on-track medical team then transferred Leclerc to the medical car, which he was able to walk to unassisted.
This came just moments after a scuffle between Leclerc and his teammate Lewis Hamilton, in which Hamilton complained Leclerc had pushed him wide into Turn 1 while they were racing wheel-to-wheel. The incident caused Hamilton to slip down to eight place.
