Haas will roll out a vital upgrade package at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend in a bid to snap a severe mid-season points drought.
The American outfit enjoyed a prolific start to the campaign, collecting 19 points across the opening rounds to consolidate seventh in the Constructors’ Championship.
However, development has stalled since May’s Canadian GP, with Haas adding just two points to its tally while midfield rivals Audi steadily closed the gap.
With the squad operating below the cost cap, major technical updates have been scarce.
Coming off a disastrous double retirement at Zandvoort, Team Principal Ayao Komatsu stressed that the squad must hit the ground running at Monza to evaluate the VF-26’s revised aerodynamics.
“This weekend, we’re bringing another upgrade package to the car, so again, it’s critical we maximise our practice time, evaluate our data comprehensively, and strive to keep pushing in the midfield,” Komatsu said.
Esteban Ocon echoed that urgency, targeting an immediate return to the top ten.
“We’re bringing a comprehensive list of updates to Monza, which are focused on bringing us back to our competitors in the midfield,” Ocon added.
“I’d like to carry on that trend and extract the most out of these updates from day one and get back in the fight for points.”
Haas proved last season that late-stage updates can pay dividends, but with Audi breathing down their necks, these Monza developments need to deliver instant lap time if the team wants to defend seventh place.
