Formula 1‘s future in Saudi Arabia looks comfortable with work ongoing into the circuit at its under-construction megaproject city in Qiddiya, and fans have had a first glimpse at perhaps its biggest selling point.

The city, which began construction in 2019, is largely focused on the sports and entertainment industry, and despite work still ongoing, the area has still seen FIA-backed motorsport, with the first Extreme H World Cup being held there in October 2025.

Set in the Riyadh Province, Qiddiya has long held ambitions to hold a Grand Prix, as well as other forms other top-level motorsport, including WEC and MotoGP.

Motorsport Week also understands that Formula E will, like F1, will vacate its current shared Saudi home in Jeddah Corniche to race in Qiddiya in the future.

The circuit, which is expected to be completed in 2028, is currently known as the Qiddiya Speed Park Track and has been penned by famed F1 circuit Hermann Tilke and former F1 driver Alexander Wurz.

Finer details of the circuit is currently unknown, but it is slated to have 21 corners, and at an apparent length of 4.3 miles, will be the longest circuit on the calendar.

Its most unique corner will be Turn 1, known as “The Blade”, which is reached at a steep incline, peaking at 230 ft, with a concert venue positioned underneath.

Over last week, images and footage emerged of the construction currently taking place of The Blade, with a clip on social media posted from the seat of an aeroplane passenger as it flew over the circuit.
