Formula E GEN4 Andretti and Nissan partnership

Nissan and Andretti announce groundbreaking partnership

Ahead of Nissan’s home race at the Tokyo E-Prix, the team has revealed it will supply powertrains to the Andretti Formula E team across the GEN4 era, starting in the 2026/27 season.

The announcement marks the beginning of a partnership between two of FE’s heavyweight teams in the series, heading into an era of the championship where nothing is certain and the pecking order is yet to be decided.

Importantly, this partnership marks the end of the existing partnership between Andretti and its current manufacturer, Porsche. Earlier this season, the pair announced they would be heading in separate directions ahead of Formula E’s groundbreaking era..

The duo have been hugely successful since their partnership began at the start of the 2022/23 season, beginning with a maiden World Championship for Jake Dennis, as well as helping the German marque to the current Manufacturer’s Championship lead.

Team Principals’ thoughts

Reflecting on the announcement, Nissan’s Team Principal and Managing Director, Tommaso Volpe, highlighted the benefits of having a strong partnership in the series.

“Formula E is an increasingly competitive championship, and having a strong partner is an important part of maximising both performance and technical development,” Volpe explained

“Andretti is one of the most successful names in motorsport, including Formula E. It has established itself as one of the leading teams in the sport. We look forward to working closely together and building a strong partnership.”

Meanwhile, Roger Griffiths, Team Principal of Andretti Formula E, praised his rivals’ success across the years, claiming his team is ‘proud’ to make up the new partnership.

“As an early pioneer of electric vehicles, Nissan has developed vast knowledge in this category. Their time in Formula E has shown how immensely competitive they can be. These characteristics align well with Andretti Formula E’s approach. We are extremely proud to be aligned with the Japanese manufacturer”
