McLaren has given fans a plethora of things to be excited about at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Lando Norris added to it with a special run.
The reigning World Champion has not enjoyed the best of Formula 1 World Championship defences this year, with the Woking-based squad unable to match Mercedes and Ferrari so far amid the sport’s new technical regulations.
But the Brit would have certainly felt the love from the crowd at the famous hillclimb as he tackled it, as per usual, behind the wheel of a papaya machine.
However, it was not in his F1 machine, but the team’s forthcoming Hypercar.
McLaren, under the stewardship of James Barclay, is readying itself for a crack at the World Endurance Championship next year, and the MCL-HY – the car tasked for it – was given a first public outing at Goodwood.
Despite an exciting driver line-up for its WEC team next season, it was Norris who was given the honour of being in the driver’s seat for it.
