Esteban Ocon has continued to face questions about his F1 future

Esteban Ocon has continued to be relaxed and confident about his Formula 1 future with Haas, insisting that those generating the speculation ‘can say whatever the f**k they want – I don’t give a shit too much.’

The Frenchman’s seat with the Silverstone-based squad has been subject to rumours since the build-up to the Canadian Grand Prix, after a media report was misconstrued and led to speculation of a fall-out with Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu, leading to both men furiously issuing firm rebuttals.

Ocon, in an exclusive interview with Motorsport Week in Barcelona, appeared firm on his long-term prospects with the team, speaking highly of Komatsu, but also detailing how his experience as a driver of nearly 10 years in F1 brings newfound benefits to its setup.

With currently baseless reports about Rafael Camara and Yuki Tsunoda in the frame for a seat with Haas, Ocon was once again pressed on the issue of his future ahead of this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

“I mean, you know, I got the trust of the team,” he told media, including Motorsport Week, at the Red Bull Ring. “I got the trust of Ayao. I think I always discussed in Canada already many of these topics.

“I mean, I’m focused, you know, with the team to try and get the things that we have in control better. So, you know, I’m chill, you know, on my side, trying to do the best we can, focus on the right things.

“People can say whatever the f**k they want, to be honest, I don’t give a s**t too much. And, yeah, I’m just wanting to do a good job for everyone.

“It’s been, you know, three, four races where it’s been quite tough, you know, for the whole team. Of course, we’ve scored a few points, but not enough, not what we want. And we need to come back into shape and we deserve it.

“Obviously, we are doing a lot of hard work, but it has yet to come and pay off.”

Ocon will be hoping for Haas to produce a more competitive car in Austria to help him and teammate Ollie Bearman kickstart its European leg of the season.
