Nicolo Bulega continued his record-breaking run of form by clinching a home pole position in WorldSBK Superpole at Misano.

Watched on by the Ducati bosses, Bulega was able to withstand the pressure and continue his phenomenal form to match Jonathan Rea’s record of the most successive pole positions with his eighth in a row.

The championship leader led the way with his first lap of the session, and continued to run in his typical record-quick time to break another lap record in Misano.

Bulega’s best time of 1:31.343s was enough for first place ahead of team-mate Iker Lecuona, who lined up second a weekend after his stand-in duties in MotoGP.

Axel Bassani also received a new contract from Bimota and qualified seventh, while Andrea Locatelli was eighth and top Yamaha.

Tommy Bridewell crashed in the final minutes of the session and took ninth, while Sam Lowes crashed with nine minutes left on the clock but still managed 10th.
