McLaren has unveiled a special livery for this weekend’s Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, commemorating the team’s 1000th race.

The Woking-based squad has taken the chance to mark the momentous anniversary in one of the most iconic race tracks on the planet.

Founded by Kiwi Bruce McLaren, the team’s first F1 entry was, fittingly, in the principality, 60 years ago this year.

And with 13 Drivers’ Championships, 10 Constructors’ Championships and 203 Grand Prix wins later, the team has cemented itself as one of the greatest in the sport’s history.

Carrying its usual papaya colour scheme, the livery on the MCL40 symbolises a message that “McLaren never quits”.

On Thursday, the car will be presented alongside the first-ever McLaren, the MB2, on the grid, and a number of legendary McLaren drivers, as well as the current line-up of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, will be present.

CEO Zak Brown said: “Lining up on the grid to race McLaren’s 1000th Grand Prix in Monaco this year provides a perfect opportunity to recognise our rich history in motorsport. We’re only the second team to reach this incredible milestone, so what better moment to reflect on our past, our present and our future.

“Throughout our past, this team has always shown grit and determination, whether that be in periods of success or the trickier times. McLaren Never Quits, and this livery and the moment on Thursday is a special way to celebrate how far we’ve come.

“We look forward to running it out on track and recognising what we have achieved from our first race, here in Monaco back in 1966, through to now. Here’s to 1000 more.”

With Norris taking victory last year, McLaren will be hoping to mark the occasion even more with a first victory of 2026.
