VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio topped the timesheets in the first MotoGP practice session at a damp Mugello.
The Italian set the pace in the session in front of his home crowd on Friday morning at the Italian Grand Prix with a 1:46.242s laptime, which put him 0.369s ahead of the rest of the field.
Jorge Martin was the top Aprilia rider as he ended the morning in second place, and will be looking to make up for his difficult weekend in Barcelona.
Completing the top three was the Trackhouse rider, Ai Ogura, who was 0.438s behind Di Giannantonio at the end of the session.
Maverick Vinales ended up inside the top five for Tech3 as he was in fourth, and he had Jack Miller on the Pramac Yamaha behind him in fifth place.
Pedro Acosta found himself inside the top ten as he was in sixth place, with fellow Spaniard Fermin Aldeguer behind him in seventh.
Despite a late crash, Francesco Bagnaia was inside the top ten in eighth, with Raul Fernandez in ninth place.
Completing the top ten was the second VR46 rider, Franco Morbidelli, with Luca Marini just outside of the top ten in 11th.
Brad Binder was in 12th place, with Joan Mir in 13th, and the Championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi, in 14th.
On his MotoGP return after undergoing surgery on his injuries from Le Mans, Marc Marquez ended the first practice session in 15th.
Michele Pirro is back in action as he replaces Alex Marquez, and found himself in 16th, with Enea Bastianini in 17th, and Diogo Moreira in 18th.
Three Yamahas found themselves in 19th, 20th, and 21st, with Fabio Quartararo, Alex Rins, and Toprak Razgatlioglu at the back end of the field.
With Cal Crutchlow returning to MotoGP action with LCR Honda to replace the recovering Johann Zarco down in 22nd, and 3.671s off the best time of the session.
