Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur has confirmed the team will bring upgrades for the SF-26 at the 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
The Middle East conflict had allowed all the teams five weeks’ of breathing room between the Japanese GP and the Miami GP, this weekend.
That said, Ferrari haven’t rested on their laurels, and have worked hard during F1’s ‘Spring Break’ to catch up to Mercedes.
The iconic Italian marque has started the sport’s latest era strongly – securing consecutive podiums in the opening three rounds of the season so far.
But while the SF-26 seemingly has the legs on the W16 in the opening phases of the races, its advantage does whittle down over a full Grand Prix distance, evidenced by the Silver Arrows’ clean sweep of race wins so far.
Vasseur revealed that, thus, the team has utilised this off time by deeply “studying” the data to ensure it can claw back pace against the leading duo of Andrea Kimi Antonelli and George Russell.
“We are very pleased to finally be back on track after such a long break, an unusual occurrence in the middle of the season,” he said.
“Over the past few weeks, we have been working hard in Maranello, studying all the data from the first few races in order to prepare as well as possible for this round.”

Ferrari confirms upgrade package for F1 Miami GP
Ferrari has also been busy on the track. The team used up its allocated filming days to take the SF-26 out at Monza.
Moreover, the team has also confirmed the return of its ‘Macarena’ rear-wing.
Now, Vasseur revealed that the team will also be bringing an upgraded aero package for the SF-26 at the Miami International Autodrome.
“We have some aero updates here [in Miami], but of course, the other teams will be doing the same,” he added.
“Therefore, it will be important to stay focused, keep our heads down and make the most of the only free practice session.”
In line with rule-tweak to be put into place from this race weekend onwards, the FIA and F1 have extended the sole FP1 session on Friday by 30 minutes.
