George Russell dominated qualifying at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, setting the benchmark for the chasing field.

The Briton dominated the session, taking advantage of the pace of the W17 to put to bed any doubt Mercedes is the class of the field.

The major shock of the session came from Max Verstappen, who spun out in Q1 after a suspected car failure, setting the Dutchman on the back-foot for the race.
