Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad spun into the gravel trap on Day 1 of the team’s pre-Formula 1 shakedown at the Imola circuit.
The British youngster, who will make his F1 debut with the Faenza-based squad this year, went out on track in slippery conditions, after team-mate Liam Lawson.
His Kiwi counterpart completed a brief installation lap without issues, before handing the reins of the VCARB 03 to the teenager.
Lindblad’s running was truncated by taking an unfortunate detour into the gravel at the Villeneuve Chicane, beaching the car and ending the day’s running.
Apparently carrying little to no damage, the VCARB 03 was returned to the pit lane via truck, with the team tasked of sorting any issues ahead of Day 2.
The schedule was already set to be a short one, as the team had elected to run under the allocated ‘demonstration event’ day rule, in which 15 kilometres are allowed.
On Wednesday, the car will return to the circuit for the second day, in which the car will be allowed to run on specific non-race Pirelli tyres for 200 kilometres, under the ‘filming day’ rule.
