Lewis Hamilton has taken to social media to break his silence after his winter break

Lewis Hamilton has shared a somewhat cryptic but uplifting social media post on his 41st birthday, ahead of his season Formula 1 season with Ferrari.

The Brit suffered what was undoubtedly his worst season in the sport, going without a single podium finish, his best result being the Sprint Race victory in China.

Hamilton struggled with what was a largely uncompetitive SF-25 machine, that was often insolent in its behaviour under the seven-time World Champion’s control.

It led Hamilton to often appear withdrawn and deflated throughout the season, as competitive results were hard to come by, ultimately finishing the season sixth in the Drivers’ standings.

And the final round in Abu Dhabi, he said that he was looking forward to throwing his phone “in the freaking bin” and taking a break from public in the off-season.

2026, with the new regulations cycle, will give Hamilton a chance of a clean slate in his second season with the Scuderia, provided it provides him with a competitive car.

And taking to his personal Instagram account, with images and videos of his Christmas break on the ski slopes, Hamilton revealed he had enjoyed his time off and conveyed a message of positivity.

“Another return. I’m incredibly grateful for this break. Time to disconnect, recharge and find a bit of inner peace,” he wrote.

“Time with family and friends replenishing with rest and good laughs has been everything I needed after a very draining year. In a world that moves so fast where we’re constantly being pulled in so many directions, truly disconnecting and has been the most amazing feeling.

I’m conscious that we’re entering the Year of the Horse and leaving behind the Year of the Snake. The time for change is now. Starting new routines, leaving behind unwanted patterns and working on growth.”

Lewis Hamilton reveals he heeded his fans’ advice amid difficult first season with Ferrari

Hamilton continued that he had taken the advice of his fans who implored him to be himself throughout his tricky maiden season with Ferrari.

He concluded by pledging to stand with them, as his first appearance back behind the wheel in just weeks away, in what will be the mysterious Project 678 car the Maranello squad will use to tackle the new regulations.

“Let go of things that don’t serve you,” he added. “This can take time, there will be things you can’t get rid of immediately, but it starts with the first step.

“Even though the world can seem like a mess, I hope that you’re staying focused on living life to the fullest. Be you and never forget who you are. I learnt that from many of you who told me this in 2025, and I’ll never forget again!

“Your support means the world to me, and I’m here for you too. You are never alone. Let’s take it one day at a time, one step at a time.”
