New Racing Bulls recruit Arvid Lindblad has underlined how his 2026 Formula 1 rookie season is uniquely different from those before him.
Lindblad will join the grid this season, partnering with Liam Lawson at Red Bull’s sister team.
The Briton arrives in F1 following an extraordinarily rapid rise through the junior categories. He started his karting career just four years ago in 2022.
However, while Lindblad acknowledges that preparation is crucial, he’s aware of the challenges his compressed journey presents.
The teenager emphasised that his climb to the top level means he arrives with less experience than his rivals.
“I haven’t really thought about it, I don’t really think about my team-mate,” Lindblad told Sky F1.
“That’s the one guy you’re compared against, but realistically for me, you talk about preparation – I’m in a little bit of a different position to a lot of the guys who have come through.”
Despite his inexperience, Linblad insists that he is ready for this challenge.
“Yes, I’m prepared, but three years ago I was in karting,” he highlighted. “I’ve done one year in each category, so on that side, it’s all been very fast.”

F1 2026 a learning year not just for Lindblad
Whilst Lindblad may be a rookie in 2026, every team and driver will enter the season on an even playing field.
With some of the biggest regulation changes in the sport’s history, the previous pecking order no longer stands.
This offers both positives and negatives for the young Briton. However, Lindblad appears to be embracing the unknowns that come with his rookie year.
“For me, I’m just focused on learning as much as I can during this winter break and focusing on myself to work with the team,” he explained.
“Realistically, there’s going to be so many new things. There’s going to be so much stuff I’m going to have to learn to get on top of.”
For Lindblad, the task remains simple: Focus on himself and his rookie season, rather than comparing himself to his more experienced team-mate Lawson.
“All that I’m thinking about is getting the most out of myself, putting myself in the best position possible, then we’ll see what happens,” he continued.
The major regulation changes only reinforce Linblad’s approach. As teams continue to discover the true performance characteristics of their new cars, even experienced drivers face uncertainty, requiring drivers to remain focused and patient with their season.
“There are so many unknowns next year that it’s pointless for me talking about, ‘I want to be better than this guy or that guy’,” he said.
“I’m just focused on myself, working hard and giving myself the best preparation to start the year.”
