Lando Norris was quickest in FP2 for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, in a session that saw two red flags and a mechanical failure for Charles Leclerc.

The Brit’s 1:33.602s saw him narrowly take top spot ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who was slower by only three hundredths of a second.

Leclerc was third, a tenth behind, but his session ended on a sour note after what appeared to be a technical issue saw him pull off the road.

The Monegasque’s abandonment of his Ferrari came between two red flags, caused by a loose manhole cover at Turn 17.

A delay was enforced as personnel tended to the manhole cover to tighten it back onto the road, with action resuming about 10 minutes later.

However, with just two minutes to go, the red flag was brought out again, as Race Control personnel, who remained on-site to inspect the repairs, notice a continued loosening.

Nico Hulkenberg ended the session in fourth place, ahead of the Racing Bulls pair of Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson.

George Russell was seventh, with Alex Albon eighth and Max Verstappen ninth. Lewis Hamilton rounded the top 10.

Lance Stroll was 11th, with Pierre Gasly 12th and Carlos Sainz 13th, one place ahead of Norris’ team-mate Oscar Piastri, whose lap was nine tenths slower than Norris’.

Yuki Tsunoda was 15th, with Franco Colapinto 16th, and Oliver Bearman 17th, with Haas continuing to struggle, as Esteban Ocon finished a lowly 19th.

Fernando Alonso was 18th, with Gabriel Bortoleto propping up the order in 20th.
