Aston Martin has reportedly removed at least seven members from its design team in preparation for Formula 1‘s latest era in 2026.

Looking ahead to the regulations reset next year, the Silverstone-based team’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, has invested heavily in the team’s infrastructure and manpower.

This included key hires like Andy Cowell and Adrian Newey, who would lead the team’s charge in terms of on-track performance and car design.

But reports coming out of Silverstone suggest that the team has now trimmed down its design department, with as many as seven individuals having been shown the exit doors.

While there has been no official confirmation, it is reported the list includes Aston Martin’s Deputy Technical Director, Eric Blandin, and ex-Chief Designer Akio Haga, amongst others.

Aston Martin will start F1’s latest era from its brand new state-of-the-art factory premises and with a works Honda power unit deal.

However, cost-cap considerations have seemingly forced its hand into offloading key personnel from within the technical apparatus.

As things stand, the people leaving the design team may be relocated to allied wings of the British marque’s motorsport operations in a move that has been dubbed a “technical restructure ahead of the 2026 season” by an Aston Martin spokesperson.

“We don’t comment on internal matters and we don’t have anything to announce yet,” it stated.

“However, we are going through a technical restructure ahead of the 2026 season which will be announced in the near future.”
