Lando Norris has indicated that a line has been drawn under the “repercussions” handed to him by McLaren, allowing him full focus now on his Formula 1 title charge.

The Briton was revealed to have been given the blame for his part in the on-track contact with team-mate Oscar Piastri on the opening lap at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Despite the pair inadvertently colliding at the Sprint Race in Austin last week, Norris bounced back strongly in the Grand Prix with second, as Piastri struggled to fifth.

The McLaren ethos throughout the campaign has been to have open and positive dialogue after every intra-team incident, which has so far resulted in a united front.

This appeared to be the case again, as Norris downplayed the situation and said his focus is now shifting towards overturning the gap to Piastri with five races to go.

“Yeah, I mean pretty easy talks,” Norris confirmed to media including Motorsport Week ahead of this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix.

“I guess good from now on, just looking ahead for the rest of the season.”

McLaren misery from its Singapore fallout was compounded by an inadvertent clash in the US GP Sprint, sending both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri out of contention

Norris added that “it’s all eyes forward” and said his sole goal now is to “just focus on myself and do what I got to do”.

“Of course it’s better when there’s nothing in the way or nothing that might be a slight disadvantage to show there, which it was before,” he added.

“So yeah, nothing much of it, just a few quick conversations and eyes on the rest of the week.”

Earlier in the day, Piastri confirmed that there was a “degree of responsibility from my side in the Sprint,” with a confirmation of a clean slate intimated given “the consequences on Lando’s side have been removed” as a result.
