Citroen Racing has announced that Jean-Eric Vergne and Nick Cassidy will be the team’s two drivers when it debuts in Formula E in Season 12.

The French outfit has opted to go with experience as it endeavours to hit the ground running. Vergne, now 35, has found success in a variety of motorsport series, driving in Formula 1 from 2012 to 2014 prior to taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and now competing in both the World Endurance Championship and Formula E.

The Frenchman’s history within the all-electric series is one of notoriety. As a part of the series since its founding, Vergne went on to become the first and only driver to win back-to-back Drivers’ titles. Vergne has departed DS Penske for Citroen, with Taylor Barnard taking his place in black and gold.

Alongside him will be the Season 11 runner-up, Nick Cassidy. The 31-year-old New Zealand driver had shown promise earlier in his career, winning Super Formula, Super GT and Formula 3.
