Lando Norris went fastest for the second time on Friday

Lando Norris went fastest in FP2 for Formula 1‘s Hungarian Grand Prix, leading a McLaren 1-2 ahead of Oscar Piastri.

The Brit’s 1:15.624s was enough to see him go top of the timesheets, almost three tenths quicker than his team-mate.

A nerve-wracking moment occurred towards the end of the session, when Norris locked up and nearly collided with Piastri, but both men survived without any strife.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third, with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and impressive fourth.

The Canadian’s team-mate Fernando Alonso, who missed FP1 on medical grounds, was straight back into form with fifth spot.

Lewis Hamilton placed the second Ferrari in sixth place, just head of George Russell’s Mercedes, with Idack Hadjar’s Racing Bulls in eighth.

Yuki Tsunoda was ninth, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli 10th in the second Mercedes.

Oliver Bearman was in 11th, with Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber being sandwiched by the second Haas of Esteban Ocon in 13th.

Max Verstappen was down in 14th place, the Dutchman being placed investigation midway through the session after he discovered an object in his cockpit and proceeded to throw it from the RB21 onto the side of the track.

Liam Lawson was 15th, with Carlos Sainz 16th, the Williams driver coming into trouble late in the hour after his engineers briefly lost all telemetry from the car.

Gabriel Bortoleto was 17th, with the sister Williams of Alex Albon 18th. The two Alpines of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto propped up the bottom of the order in 19th and 20th respectively.
