Esteban Ocon has said that the promises made to him when joining Haas have been kept, saying that the team’s Formula 1 results this year have aligned with its targets.
The Frenchman moved to the American squad this season from Alpine, forming a new driver line-up with rookie Oliver Bearman.
With half the season gone, Ocon has already matched his 2024 points total – 23 – having shown some impressive race pace alongside the Briton.
To many, a move to Haas may have been seen as a risk, but the team has so far outperformed Alpine, to whom it narrowly missed out on sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship last year.
When asked if Team Principal Ayao Komatsu’s expectations for this season have matched reality, Ocon told media including Motorsport Week that so far, things are comparable.
“Yes, for sure,” he said. “There were no lies in what Ayao said. Things are going as they should be, of course. We want to have more pace.
“This is the thing that we are focused on and that we need to sort out. But all the rest is very straightforward, very clear, and focused on one target, which is the important one.
“It’s the track, so I’m happy.”

Ocon pleased with increasing ‘understanding’ with Haas engineers
Ocon has previously talked about his burgeoning and fruitful relationship with his engineers, led by Laura Mueller.
Back in May, he said he was buoyed by their hard work, saying it was “awesome to see how much effort they put in, how motivated they are.”
Ocon reiterated this at Silverstone, providing an update on how his work with the group has been progressing.
“We’re understanding each other a lot more, working on all the little topics,” he said. “I’m learning a lot alongside her [Mueller].
“And yeah, it’s been strong races. We’ve made a really solid job, without mistakes, and it’s been strong.”
